Where can a welcome ceremony take place?

As with all independent ceremonies, a naming ceremony or a welcome celebration can take place anywhere. Let yourselves be inspired by the possibilities.

Where can a welcome ceremony take place?

As with all independent ceremonies, a naming ceremony or a welcome celebration can take place anywhere. Let yourselves be inspired by the possibilities.

Restaurant, inn, hotel

Choosing a venue with table service and a kitchen is certainly the most comfortable option and, with small children, a straightforward one. Young parents who are still settling in with their baby greatly appreciate having this taken off their hands. Usually, alongside the outdoor option, there is also a lovely hall, a vaulted cellar or a conservatory available should the weather not cooperate.

Event venue

Renting a forest hut with a barbecue area, a boathouse by the lake, a party hut nearby with a playground. Especially when there are many children among the guests, it is worth considering a place like this where the kids can help with setting up or let off steam. All the preparation involves extra effort, but in return you are completely free in how you structure the day and more flexible when the unexpected has to be dealt with. A good caterer can take some of the work off your hands if needed. But you can also cook and decorate on a budget with plenty of your own effort and by involving your guests.

Your own garden

Of course not everyone is in the privileged position of being able to choose their own garden as the ceremony venue. But it is among the most affordable and least complicated solutions, and a naming celebration is often held in a more intimate family setting anyway. Careful thought must be given to what happens in bad weather. A marquee is not always the simplest safeguard.

A place in nature

Very often a spot with meaning is chosen. Being close to water, to the forest or to the mountains is particularly popular in Switzerland, but a place full of meaning for the parents is just as welcome. Here the bad-weather alternative deserves particular attention, and it is advisable to hold only the ceremony there and to choose a venue within a short drive or walk for the celebratory meal afterwards.

What matters in the choice is that the family and their guests feel at ease, so that the celebration is remembered fondly.
